Important Notice: Demolition of Flinders East Carpark Toilet Block

We wish to inform the community that the toilet block at Flinders East Carpark will be demolished on Tuesday and Wednesday this week, following recent vandalism that led to its closure. The block is well past it's serviceable life and continued repair was deemed unviable.

Thanks to a Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action grant, this site will be redeveloped into a new BBQ area in February, enhancing public facilities in Rye for everyone to enjoy. At present, the closest BBQ facilities are at the Foreshore Office in Blairgowrie (5km West) and Rye Pier (4km East) Highlighting a significant gap in services.

The toilet block at Flinders West Carpark, located just a 2.5 minute walk towards Sorrento, remains open and accessible. This block is also due to be replaced with a brand new amenity block in 2025 - planning is already well underway.

Long term strategic planning is also underway and the inclusion of a public toilet facility at the Whitecliffs Campground amenity block, a 5 min walk to the East, is planned for the area to ensure the needs of beach users are accommodated into the future.
