Blairgowrie 3942 Beach Patrol Logo
We are excited to share with you the logo for the Blairgowrie 3942 Beach Patrol! The logo features a picture of an Australasian gannet. Whilst the Australasian gannet is an aesthetically beautiful sea bird, there is a deeper reason that we wanted to use its image to represent our group.
Earlier this year Whitecliffs Foreshore Rangers completed a rescue of an Australasian gannet that had been tangled in fishing line. After some difficulty (they have extremely sharp/strong beaks!) we were able to rescue the bird. It had some obvious injuries caused by the entanglement. After taking the bird to a local vet & later a specialist, unfortunately, it did not survive its injuries.
Whilst upsetting, this is an all-too-common story for sea birds. We wanted to use an image of an Australasian gannet as the logo to act as a reminder of the importance of keeping our beaches clean. Every piece of rubbish collected by the Blairgowrie 3942 Beach Patrol is one less piece of rubbish that can kill our beautiful native sea birds.
