August Beach Patrol
Today was unbelievable! Sunny skies after so much rain and an incredible bunch of people (16 of us!) so happy to be there, caring for the health of the lands, seas and species that give so much to us.
Thank you to all who came today; we did something to be proud of. We found so much litter I had to take most of it home (boot filled) and will dispose of it safely this week.
Stand-out items today were some massive building items that may have washed up in the rains (star pickets, decking timber), over 10 bags of dog poo which is a noticeable problem in this area, and a huge increase in cigarette butts (63).
In positive news - NO plastic straws were collected, and some of the larger items will be able to be re-used by our volunteers.
